In a world challenged by diminishing petroleum-based resources, escalating oil prices, the problematic geographical location of the petroleum sources and unstable climatic changes due to gas emissions from transport vehicles, bio-diesel has emerged as the fuel of the new energy agenda.
The recent wide acceptance of the Kyoto Protocol established strict guidelines about the levels of harmful waste emissions permitted by each nation. It's no longer a matter of choice; industrialists and energy providers in countries all over the world will have to comply with the new Kyoto-driven legislation taking effect everywhere or risk the consequences.
Bio-diesel is a renewable fuel produced from vegetable oils such as those from rapeseed and sunflower seed. Bio-diesel has been demonstrated to have significant environmental benefits in terms of decreased global warming impacts, reduced emissions, greater energy independence and a positive impact on agriculture.
Currently in Ghana to explore avenues of investment in the sector are two officials of Galten Global Alternative Energy.
Galten is an International Group, committed to become a world leader in the sector of the bio-diesel production. The business model that has been adopted is to get hold of large land areas, mainly on the African Continent for jatropha plantations as the source of bio-diesel. Galten has commitments from certain African countries that have disposed large areas for the cultivation of the jatropha plant (hundred thousands of hectares'). The outcome of the production, the bio-diesel, will be sold (as firm commitments) a priory, to bio-diesel buyers, oil companies, bio-diesel distributors and importers.
Galten has improved the biotechnology (by its group of collaborator experts and researchers in tissue culturing) to get higher outcome of oil from the plant, meaning higher profitability. The company holds advisors and consultants, experts and experienced in the bio-diesel field in all aspects.
Messrs Doron Levi and Shlomi Jonas have been in Ghana this past one week and have held meetings with officials of GIPC, PSI, Ministry of Food and Agric, Ministry of Energy and interested parties in the Private Sector.
Galten group hopes to lead the bio-diesel market and become a global, sustainable producer of bio-diesel. It aims to meet the world's growing demand for more green transport fuel and deliver a consistent high volume output of sustainable vegetable feedstock oils and high quality bio-diesel.
